Waukegan, Illinois (April 12, 2023) – The Waukegan Park District will be opening the SplashZone for the season on Saturday, May 27, 2023. Located at 412 S. Lewis Avenue in Corrine J. Rose Park, the state-of-the-art water park includes a multi-generational water playground with six slides and numerous play features.
Season passes are available for children, adults, and families. Passholders will be able to enjoy unlimited entry to the SplashZone. Rates for the passes are as follows:
- Child Season Pass (Resident): $20 (Early Bird Special)/$25 (Regular Rate)
- Child Season Pass (Nonresident): $30 (Early Bird Special)/$35 (Regular Rate)
- Adult Season Pass (Resident): $25 (Early Bird Special)/$30 (Regular Rate)
- Adult Season Pass (Nonresident): $35 (Early Bird Special)/$40 (Regular Rate)
- Family Season Pass (Resident): $55 (Early Bird Special)/$65 (Regular Rate)
- Family Season Pass (Nonresident): $65 (Early Bird Special)/$75 (Regular Rate)
To qualify for the resident fee, individuals must show proof of residency within the boundaries of the Waukegan Park District. Proof of residency can be confirmed with a government-issued identification card (i.e., state ID or driver’s license), foreign government ID card issued in the United States (i.e., consular ID cards) or a current bill (within the last ninety days), including utility, credit card, phone, and mortgage bills. Residency for children can be verified with an identification card from Waukegan Public Schools or parent/guardian’s proof of residency.
The early bird special is available until Friday, May 19, 2023. Season passes must be purchased at the Field House Sports, Fitness & Aquatics Center, located at 800 N. Baldwin Avenue. Established on December 26, 1916, the Waukegan Park District (WPD) has 53 properties and more than 742 acres of land, including the 18-hole Bonnie Brook and 9-hole Greenshire Golf Courses. Nationally accredited by the NRPA Commission for Accreditation of Park and Recreation Agencies (CAPRA) and State accredited through the IAPD Distinguished Agency Accreditation, the WPD has received the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) Triple Crown Award for receiving the GFOA’s Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting, Popular Annual Financial Reporting Award, and the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award. The WPD was awarded the NRPA National Gold Medal Award for Excellence in Park and Recreation Management in 2013, and was named a Gold Medal Finalist in 2012, 2013, 2019, 2021, 2022, and 2023.
