Picasso at the Lapin Agile by Steve Martin will be presented on May 24, 25, 26*, 2013. Acts to Follow, a new theatre group at the Schornick Theatre, presents one-act plays along with a short original play by an emerging playwright. Girls Summer Softball League Evaluations Girls softball league has a brand new layout! All skill levels are welcome. Player evaluations are at Belvidere Park (rain date will be at the Field House) on Tuesday, May 28. Evaluations for girls ages 7-9 is at 5pm, use program #5318 when registering. Ages 10-12 at 6pm, use program #5319 and ages 13-16 at 7pm, use program #5320. Cost is $40 for residents and $47 for non-residents. Ray Bradbury's Dandelion Wine Fine Arts Festival The 14th Annual Ray Bradbury's Dandelion Wine Fine Arts Festival will be held on June 1, 2013, 10am-4pm in Bowen Park. This free event features music, dance, art and more. Artists and craft vendors are welcome, applications are available now by clicking here. Movies in the Park - The Muppets Movie Grab your lawn chair or a blanket and join us on the second Friday of the month, beginning on June 7 for a movie in Bowen Park. Show time will be based on dusk. Concert Call will be selling popcorn and beverages. Click here for more information.
Fishing Derby The annual Fishing Derby provides prizes for the largest fish caught by age categories. The Derby is from 8-10:30am on Saturday, June 8 at Bevier Park. Advance registrations are encouraged, use program #0683. By doing so, you can save on the registration fee and avoid long lines. Limited supply of fishing poles are available with valid I.D. Bowen Park Theatre Company Auditions for Robert Bolt’s A Man For All Seasons Bowen Park Theatre Company seeks eleven men (20's-60's) and three women (20's-60's) for the fall production of Robert Bolt’s compelling 1962 drama, A Man For All Seasons. Auditions will be held on Sunday, June 9 from Noon-4pm and Monday, June 10, from 6-9pm. Appointments are encouraged, but walk-ins are always welcome.  Click here for more information.   

Waukegan Park District to Control Gypsy Moth Population The Waukegan Park District has contracted with Hendrickson Flying Service, Inc. to conduct helicopter aerial spraying of BTK (Bacillus thuringiencis var. kurstaki) over these sites beginning in May and early June. Many other northern Illinois communities have successfully controlled Gypsy Moth infestation by spraying BTK. It is extremely important to control Gypsy Moth caterpillars in the spring when they begin to feed upon deciduous trees. Click here for more information.

Waukegan Park District Election Results The Waukegan Park District wishes to congratulate Commissioner Bill Sarocka on his re-election and welcome new Commissioner George Bridges to the Waukegan Park District Board. Waukegan Park District Looking for American Independence Parade Entries The Waukegan Park District is in search of organizations, businesses, teams, and other groups to participate in our 2013 American Independence Parade which will be taking place on June 30. Parade line up will begin at 11:30am along Sheridan  Road, between Franklin and Washington Streets. The parade will step off at 1:00pm and travel North on Sheridan Road to Bowen Park. Entries may include walking units, vehicles, floats, bands/drill teams, or any other imaginative group that will  contribute excitement, pride, and a sense of community to this year’s parade!

A Call for Original Short Plays Acts to Follow is a theatre group housed at the Jack Benny Center for the Arts, 39 Jack Benny Drive- Bowen Park, Waukegan, IL. The ensemble group is looking for original short plays with a runtime of approximately 10 minutes. The troupe of actors perform a published one-act play and an original short with each performance.
