Park Use Permits help the District accommodate groups and ensure guests have a pleasant, safe, and enjoyable park experience. Beginning on Monday, March 2nd, Park Use Permit green space and pavilion rental applications will be available. Applications are processed in the order in which they are received, first come, first served. Applications need to be completed and submitted in person at the Belvidere Recreation Center, (BRC) 412 S. Lewis Ave. BRC will be open on Monday, March 2 from 9am-8pm. Thereafter, Monday thru Friday, 4-8pm and Saturdays from 9am-2pm. Proof of residency and identification are required and rental fees and security deposits must accompany the completed application. February 28, 2015 at 11:00am at the Trapp Auditorium, Waukegan High School This special concert is a musical tour of the sections of the orchestra along with some glimpses into the wold of music making. Representatives of the Waukegan Park District were on hand last month to receive the top award from the Sports Turf Managers Association (STMA) for the 2014 Softball Fields in the Schools and Parks division. Noel Brusius, the Waukegan Park District Sports Turf Manager, submitted the nomination and accepted the award from STMA President David Pinsonneault. Click here to read more.
The 16th Annual Dandelion Wine Fine Arts Festival will be Saturday, June 6 from 10a-4p in Bowen Park. This is a free annual family event that celebrates the start of summer. The festival is dedicated to showcasing local and regional artists and venues, championing the arts, remaining free to the public, offering low
participation fees to artists, and remembering one of Waukegan’s favorite sons, author Ray Bradbury. Varieties of fine arts & crafts are encouraged including: ceramics, drawing, glass, fiber arts, graphics, leather, metal, painting, printmaking, photography, sculpture, water color, weaving, wood, and others. On December 11, the Chicago Wilderness alliance honored the Waukegan Park District with the Conservation and Native Landscaping Award. The Waukegan Park District received the award for habitat restoration in Bowen Park’s Glen Flora Ravine. Click here for more information.
