Waukegan Symphony Orchestra & Concert Chorus

Waukegan Symphony Orchestra

The Waukegan Symphony Orchestra (WSO) was born on April 24, 1974 when favorite comedic son Jack Benny returned to his hometown of Waukegan to star in the WSO’s initial performance. It was a magical night, held at the Orlin D. Trapp Auditorium at Waukegan High School’s Brookside Campus. Like the Music Center of Lake County, the WSO has made itself synonymous with the broad range of culture that is the hallmark of Waukegan. Through its history, the WSO has engaged its audiences in both traditional and challenging works.
The Waukegan Symphony Orchestra is led by Music Director Alexander Platt.

Waukegan Concert Chorus

The Waukegan Concert Chorus (WCC) was established as a community chorus in 1976 to sing with the Waukegan Symphony Orchestra (WSO) in a performance of Verdi’s Requiem. The members of the community recognized the great benefit of retaining such a cultural asset in the community and the WCC continued as an independent sister organization to the WSO. Today, Music Director Randy Casey’s baton leads this community chorus.

Waukegan Concert Chorus performances will be held in the Schornick Theatre at the Jack Benny Center for the Arts, 39 Jack Benny Drive. Season tickets are available online, at the Jack Benny Center for the Arts, or via telephone at (847) 360-4740. All tickets bought online will be held at the box office.
