Come and learn about the natural world at Nature’s Classroom. Special guest, Belynda Alberte from the Lake County Forest Preserve, will be offering four free programs this summer going over the biodiversity around Waukegan and Nature’s Classroom. Registration is not required.
On Friday, June 27, 2025 from 2pm to 3pm, the Waukegan Park District and the Lake County Forest Preserve are offering Shore Animals of Waukegan. This session will highlight a set of animal species that utilize the local Lake Michigan lakeshore and associated greenspaces, including Piping Plover, the Blanding’s Turtle, and the Rusty Patched Bumblebee. Participants will learn about where these animals live, their life cycle, what they eat, and how they may observe them in a responsible manner. Participants will also be provided with an activity book and other informational materials related to these critters.
