The Waukegan Park District is now accepting applications for the Before & After School Experience (B.A.S.E.) which will be offered on weekdays from Monday, August 14, 2023 until Tuesday, May 21, 2024 at the Belvidere Recreation Center, located at 412 S. Lewis Avenue in Corrine J. Rose Park. Open to students from kindergarten to fifth grade, the unique day care program will engage students in safe and enriching activities, including arts, crafts, games, sports, and more. Students will also have scheduled time to complete their homework assignments.Â
B.A.S.E. will follow the academic calendar for Waukegan Community Unit School District #60 and will be open for students with early and late start and release times as stated below:
- Before School Program (early start): 7am to 8:30am for $184/monthÂ
- Before School Program (late start): 7am to 9am for $200/monthÂ
- After School Program (early release): 3:30pm to 6pm for $205/monthÂ
- After School Program (late release): 4pm to 6pm for $194/monthÂ
Transportation to and from school will be provided to participants attending a school in Waukegan Community Unit School District #60. A discount will be applied for families with multiple children. The Waukegan Park District accepts third-party funding from other organizations and has financial assistance available. Established on December 26, 1916, the Waukegan Park District (WPD) has 53 properties and more than 742 acres of land, including the 18-hole Bonnie Brook and 9-hole Greenshire Golf Courses. Properties are managed to the highest environmental and conservation standards. Nationally accredited by the NRPA Commission for Accreditation of Park and Recreation Agencies (CAPRA) and State accredited through the IAPD Distinguished Agency Accreditation, the WPD has received the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) Triple Crown Award for receiving the GFOA’s Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting, Popular Annual Financial Reporting Award, and the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award. The WPD was awarded the NRPA National Gold Medal Award for Excellence in Park and Recreation Management in 2013, and was named a Gold Medal Finalist in 2012, 2013, 2019, 2021, 2022, and 2023.
