Gardening: A Beneficial Activity
Gardening benefits are many-fresh fruits and vegetables that are nutritional, healthy and good to eat; stress reduction and higher self-esteem; increased physical activity, hand strength and dexterity. Some studies claim reduced risk of dementia and better immunity. The National Institute for Health recommends 30-45 minutes of gardening 3-5 times per week as part of a good strategy to combat obesity.
Several programs have been developed to encourage and provide ‘how to’ gardening information for both children and adults:
