Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) Update

Coronavirus (C0VID-19) Update

While reopening, the safety of our community and staff is our priority. Playgrounds are now open, however, capacity is limited to 50 people and individuals must follow social distancing guidelines. Splash pads, picnic tables, grill and restrooms in our parks are also open for public use.

On Friday, August 7, the Center for Disease Control updated their “Considerations for Wearing Masks“. The CDC has now taken the stance that masks with exhalation valves do not protect others because they allow droplets to be released through the valve. Therefore, the CDC does not recommend using masks for source control if they have an exhalation valve or vent. We are encouraging individuals visiting the Waukegan Park District to not to use this style mask.

As we monitor the spread of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) daily and follow the recommendations of the Lake County Health Department, the safety of our patrons, participants, and staff is our top priority. We recognize the seriousness of the spread of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in our community. Help prevent the spread of respiratory diseases by following the Center for Disease Control’s tips by staying home if sick; avoiding close contact with people who are sick; covering coughs and sneezes; avoiding touching eyes, nose and mouth; and washing hands with soap and water.
